The Laboratory Center of Nafpaktos (E.K. Nafpaktou) is located in Nafpaktos (Greece). It was established in 2000 as an independent school unit which cooperates with EPAL (VET high school) and DIEK (no formal VET (adults)) Nafpaktou. It's maintaining, supporting and serving them in terms of laboratory places and equipment to promote the educational process. 300 students from EPAL, 250 from DIEK and 20 of the apprenticeship year attend to laboratory subjects in E.K.

The following 6 sectors operate within its support: 

  • Agriculture, Food & Environment, 

  • Electrical, Electronics & Automation, 

  • Engineering, 

  • Economics & Administration, 

  • Informatics, 

  • Health,Welfare & Wellness.

E.K staff is consisted of 4 teachers-sectors responsible, 4 teachers-laboratory managers,2 teachers-responsible for the apprenticeship program and 18 teachers from the full range of VET specialities required to operate the above areas.

E.K has never participated as beneficiary in a Strategic Partnership, but it has acted as hosting organization in KA1 actions or as supporter to EPAL's Erasmus+ projects. 

Understanding the urgent need for a gradual development of its European identity, the ever-changing labor market conditions that are shaping new demands on VET, E.K recognized its role in these changes. The need to seek train and apply new innovative teaching methods adapted to modern work environments in order students develop specialized skills and attitudes that will lead them to permanent and sustainable professional careers is its basic motivation for a development plan. 

EK recognizes that schools have a central role on equipping young people to bring life the revolutionary aspirations of the Green Deal,and act as responsible citizens.This project is launched,developed and will be implemented by and with students, as they asked for this.As the project puts a great emphasis on scientific research,experiments and STEM analysis, EK will be an extremely advantageous work place to implement project goals and activities. Due to its laboratory facilities,it will provide all conditions via of which scientific and technological research,experiments and measurement can be performed.That will help fulfill our role,so we are eager to coordinate on this project.

The key persons are mainly:

-the students of Food Technology department,

-a mechanic engineer -EK headmaster. He will guarantee a better STEM approach and more culture exchanges as he has an extra bachelor on Music

-an eTwinning Ambassador, dietitian-nutritionist with a thesis on Nutrition in Health and Disease and a SCOPE certificate by World Obesity Federation.She had the idea and also is the coordinator of EPAL's erasmus projects.

-an agriculturist teacher,laboratory manager of Agriculture, Food & Environment department, with a thesis on the Environmental Biochemistry

-an economist

They've already implemented CLIL to their subjects and are eager to improve their STEM pedagogy. Many other will participate in the project with one or another way. They're ready to take more responsibilities if there's need.

This school was founded in 1959 as “Art school for Girls”.  The school has 5 professional departments: 

  • Child Development & Education, 

  • Clothing Productions, 

  • Beauty & Hair Care, 

  • Food & Beverages Services, 

  • Graphics & Photography.

Food & Beverages, Beauty & Hair Care, Graphics & Photography have revolving funds through which they serve to public and provide fund for school. The school has 52 teachers and 453 students. 

Near the vocational education, the students have interdisciplinary education which consists of Turkish, English, History, Maths, Geography, Religion, Literature, Physical education, Chemistry and Art. The girls' education continue for 4 years.

There's a mandatory internship at their 4th grades for 3 months so to be graduated. After that, they get certificate and take place in related business sectors. 

International projects included in Leonardo Da Vinci, Erasmus+ and eTwinning have been successfully made since 2006. Moreover, the school is a member of E-safety, Tema (a national organization against deforestation), Eco-schools and Nutrition- friendly schools. It has received accreditations as eTwinning School label and eSafety Gold Label. 

In the Food & Beverages department, the students have lessons both in workshop and class. It has two separate food workshops one of which is the biggest and well-equipped one in the city; so food practices, contests and implementations are conducted efficiently. The curriculum has national and international cuisine. The department has successful and willing students who are keen on food technologies, and have participated and gotten awarded into national and international contests about food & nutrition. It also has projects related to waste oil collection contributing to recycling process and has participated into Erasmus projects and prepared an international e-cookbook. It also makes social responsible projects: cooking for the old people, preparing alternative recipes for the industrial foods, helping the immigrants by serving free foods, etc. 

All are already conscious about the necessity and importance of the project. Besides the interesting topic, the chance to observe European countries and partner schools’ practices are the main motivations.

The key persons are:

  •  the coordinator who is an English CLIL teacher with a phd master thesis about “How to cope with the problems in learning English”, 

  • food & beverages teachers (with diploma as nutritionists), 

  • Computer-Sciences, Geography and Handicrafts teachers who have experience in STEM, and 

  • the school principal who is a supportive leader. 

In case these people leave their posts in the future, there will be other teachers who have accepted to compensate any kind of lack. Some other teachers who will participate into the project -without mobility,- also accept to travel in case of an emergency. Additionally, Euro desk coordinator of deputy has agreed to take the responsibility in case the coordinator teacher has to leave her post.

Hemijsko-prehrambena tehnološka škola is a secondary vocational school founded in 1957. It is located in the territory of the city of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The school has around 900 students, aged 15 to 19. There are about 90 teachers. The classes are organized in three separate buildings. There are two educational fields covered within our school, one is Chemistry, non-metals and printing and the other Agriculture, production and processing of food.

From its foundation up to now, the school has been trying to adapt to the labor market needs and has been participating in educational reforms. The school has a successful cooperation with several European companies, one of which being “Delhaize Group”. For our students, we organize practical classes at our social partners’ companies throughout the school year. 

From the beginning of Erasmus+ calls availability in Serbia, our school has been participating in different other calls: Academy of Central European Schools (ACES), Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), CARDS, IPA 2011, Open Discovery Space (ODS), eTwinning, etc. Our impression is that, after their participation in projects, our students have become more interested in their school responsibilities and duties, and more motivated to study and achieve. 

The project titled „Essay Land“ will include students from 2nd and 3rd grade, from the four year courses for the profiles of food technician and biotechnology technician. Besides, the motivation to participate in this project we have found in the topics and subject matter of the project that deals with the principles of healthy diet, chemistry of healthy ingredients, food technology, environmental and climate changes, and above all - sustainability.

Through this project the students should link their learning contents with the principles of the healthy diet and everyday life habits, and to learn to be more responsible and aware of its effects to their bodies and their health. Together with partner schools we shall learn to be more conscious and creative when it comes to ecology and climate changes in order to raise consciousness of teenage population about the importance of a healthy environment. As stated, these projects have a positive impact on the achievements and career guidance of students. It is important to point out that our school includes students from deprived environments. We see it as a fantastic opportunity to get them to travel, meet their peers from abroad and broaden their horizons by learning something new about other cultures, traditions and history. 

Apart from the administrative staff (accounting dept. head and administrative workers) and the headteacher of our school, the implementation of the project shall include the following teachers:

-Vesna Jevtić, M. Engl. Lang. and Lit., teacher of English and Citizenship, as a person in charge of school internationalization, as a support team member in project implementation.

Don Bosco schools in Vöcklabruck were founded in 1975 as a private Catholic school with public rights. It's located in a city with about 12,000 inhabitants in the northwest of Austria on the northern edge of the Alps. It has about 50 teachers and more than 350 students aged 14 to 19 years. 

It offers a secondary School for Economic Professions(5years), a triennial Vocational School for Economic Professions Training focus: Health Care and Social Welfare Education(3years) and a vocational School for Economy(1year). Aside from general subjects the students focus on gastronomy (cooking, service and nutrition) as well as economical skills (accounting, business studies). As a foreign language they learn English and the 5-year classes also learn French and Spanish. The students have to participate into mandatory internship between 3rd and 4th class for 3 months to be graduated.

This summer we have suffered from the effects of global warming, so we're motivated to join and act so to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet by changing our consumption habits. In this project, emphasis will be placed on the basics of nutrition and food, also food technology, economic, ecological and social, climate change and sustainability aspects. The students should learn how to keep their bodies health and learn to decide and act resource-consciously and responsibly. Together with the other partner schools, we will learn to tackle current challenges constructively to build healthier and more responsible teenager. We believe that the common work will be an example of European citizens collaboration to build a healthier future.

The key persons are the students of 3rd class of Food Technology, and the following teachers:

-Dipl.-Päd. FOL Elfriede Maier: Food and Technology Teacher, Cooking instructor with special training in vegan and vegetarian cooking; Erasmus coordinator and active eTwinning Ambassador; has a lot of experiences with new modern technologies; CLIL teacher.

-Mag. Irene Bader, English and French Teacher, personal representatives and education consultant at school; it will be her first experiences with Erasmus+ projects and eTwinning.

-Dipl.-Päd. Barbara Ecker BEd. – Food and Technology Teacher, Wine sommelier, Cooking Teacher with special training in vegan/vegetarian cooking, school account manager.

-FOL Gertrude Meisinger – Media design teacher, MMag. Ursula Köttl – accounting and business studies teacher, speaks English and French, both have experiences with eTwinning projects.

All teachers are very motivated to take part in this project, in one or another way.

Our school has participated by a lot of Erasmus+ and eTwinning projects with Food and Health topics (for example: Revisiting grandmothers recipes, reducing free sugar, stem meets food factory, eat local, think global, healthy generations).

All teachers and students have advanced vocational trainings for working with Office 365, working with “Safer Internet”, with digital classroom and e-learning.

Our school is located in Milazzo, a small town in the north-east of Sicily, close to Messina, which is the closest town to mainland Italy. It’s quite a big school with 1009 students aged 14-19 and 162 qualified teachers. 

There are seven different programmes aiming at both vocational and theoretical education:

1. Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Services; 

2. Management Landscape Architecture –Architecture and Environment; 

3.Furniture Interior Design; 

4.Scenic Design; 

5.Graphics; 

6.Digital Design;

7.Graphic Ceramic. 

Milazzo, is the third-largest city in the province of Messina, and is one of the most important cities of Sicily. The city has a population of over 32,000 inhabitants and it’s the main port of departure to the Aeolian Islands. 

The programme of our school dealing with Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Services Management, (which correspond to the vocational sector of

our school) is born strictly connected to the rich to touristic background of Milazzo. After finishing secondary school lots of students, who have chosen this programme are taken on local hotel and restaurants carrying out tasks dealing with hotel and restaurant operations, food preparation and service. The other programmes our school: Landscape Architecture, Furniture Interior Design, Scenic Design, Graphics belong to the theoretical education of lyceum. Our students are encouraged to develop a passion for art and technique concerning drawing, visual communication, photography, art history, cinematography, pottery and ceramic.

Our students acquire and develop excellent computer, technological and communication skills which are necessary to enter the labour market and to cope with the business competition. Although our school has in total 1009 attending students, more than 700 belong to Hospitality, Hotel and Restaurant Services Management course, which represents our main source.

We are highly motivated to join this project since the issue of eating smart to save the planet is really important nowadays and it's doomed to become even more important in the years to come. Our school can be an asset for the project since for our students“ to eat smart saving the planet“ won't be a theoretical knowledge, but a real one to put it into practice in the world of labour. 

We are a dynamic and highly motivated Erasmus team composed of 7 people, their field of specialization is: English, French, Special Needs Education, Economy, Maths, Hospitality & Tourism, Food &Beverage. The activities are coordinated by the contact person, in case she will leave her post, her role will be taken over the deputy contact person.

LYCEE PROFESSIONNEL PARDAILHAN

Pardailhan high school is a public and nonprofit institution under the French National Education Ministry. The school which has 3 professional departments such as “Trade and managing, Food and Beverages Services, Social and sanitary services” employs 49 teachers who train 490 students aged from 15 to 18 years old. The school has a boarding house which hosts 340 students coming from Gers and the close departments. 

For 3 years now, Pardailhan high school has had the E3D label which means that the school is involved in many actions to save the planet: all the students select rubbish, we use glass instead of plastic. etc

Three classes have worked together to create an omni-channel shop inside the school called “Green store” which aims to stop fashion waste by selling second-hand clothes given by all the school staff. They have also their Instagram account @green.store.officiel.

Every year, the school organizes for two weeks a temporary store called “Parda Bio” in partnership with a local organic company and the students can put into practice their selling skills to advise and sell organic products such as coffee, tea, toiletries and so on.

Our headmaster has always encouraged his staff to take part into projects having a global awareness of the urgent need to act for the planet and to act as responsible Europeans. The constant evolution of the labor market is shaping the way we teach, adopting innovative teaching methods in order to train our students to fit into sustainable professional careers as well as to act against global warming. In this way, the students have to validate 6 internship periods along their three-year training.

The school has already taken part to an e-twinning project entitled “Sharing culture through food” where we have already worked about these topics. This was awarded both the national and European quality label making our school eligible to apply next year for the eTwinning school label. The project really fits our teaching and will allow our students to be active members in saving the planet . Students from the departments “Food and Beverages services, Social and Sanitary services” are particularly concerned by eating smart. The project will allow them to develop complementary skills and direct their learning to new ways to preserve our planet.

The school level chosen is 1bac pro social and sanitary services with students aged 16 years old, mostly girls aimed to care young children as well as retired people and also 1bac pro food and beverages services, who study healthy culinary techniques, organic and sustainable food.
